Open Ladakh aims to promote spiritual journeys’ programs, based on the Dhamma as taught by the Buddha. We also organise Meditation retreats, Sightseeing, Trekking through the Himalayas, Rafting, Home Stay experiences, Package tours, Cultural exchange programs for students and many other Ladakhi opportunities.

Open Ladakh is founded by Mr. Tsewang Norbu Vivek (or just Vivek) in 2004. His main aim is to bring alive the ancient Buddhist teachings and incorporate it in today’s modern stressful life. He is the primary teacher for the retreats and conducts the Dhamma programs. His approach incorporates the traditional with a modern engaged practitioner.

Most of the retreats offered by Open Ladakh, take place at Vivek’s own home, which he has renamed Dhamma House and opened up to everyone. Dhamma House is a small farm house in Stok Village, about 20 kilometers from Leh. It also includes a meditation hall. It is the spiritual destination of Open Ladakh’s meditation and spiritual journey’s programs.

Vivek and his sister Dolma decided to open their home to all those people from around the world who are interested in learning Buddhism and meditation. In 2004, after coming back from his studies in Myanmar after doing a special study in Buddhism and meditation, he renamed his home and called it Dhamma House, meaning home of the noble teachings of the Buddha or the home of the universal law.
